Hey hey! My name is Garrett Matthews (He/They) thank you for checking out my website.

I was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland where my interests in the performing arts offered me a wide variety of opportunities and experiences centering around singing, acting, performing but most importantly, story telling.

Singing was my first introduction to the performing arts in my church’s children’s choir. My big personality met my big voice and through the choir pipeline at school, I found myself auditioning and joining the Children’s Chorus of Washington. An organization that allowed me to perform in Operas at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC as well as performing concerts in London and Wales. Those experiences along with others led me to earn my degree in Vocal Performance from the Hartt School under Cherie Caluda.

The love of Acting soon followed singing as it was soon clear, through several skits at church, that one could not be done without the other. At my Public Elementary school every year the fourth and fifth graders put on a musical. When I reached fourth grade I was cast as Rooster in “Annie jr”, sparking my love for making people laugh and really enjoying quirky characters.

Movie Musicals are what lead my interest to the world of Film. The movie musical lives in a special zeitgeist of culture in the United States. From “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” to “Moulin Rouge” they have always been a special part in my life.

I appreciate you taking the time to read my ‘about me’ section. Please take a peak at my resumé as well as my other photos and videos to get a more rounded view of myself as a performer. Thanks again!
